Welcome to Win a House Raffles, your source for all the best house raffles worldwide. We feature lots of different house raffles in our Raffles Directory, ranging from raffles and competitions giving away real estate in various parts of the USA, to those offering players a chance of winning a house or apartment in Europe and beyond. While house raffles are nothing new, recently we have seen a resurgence in interest in raffles given the difficulty some homeowners are facing in selling their property.

In the United States, as in a number of other countries, it is illegal to run a raffle or lottery for profit. As a result, the majority of house competitions we tend to come across are organized by a registered non-profit organization or charity. This allows homeowners to "sell" their property and realise its market price - or as close as possible to that price to pay off their debts. In return, this offers the partner charity an excellent way of raising much-needed funds amidst tough economic conditions.

Across the USA, in most states we are noticing more homeowners joining forces with non-profit organizations to sell their properties in this way. In some cases, the number of tickets is limited, offering players very good odds of winning compared with state or national lotteries. Organizing your own win a house raffle requires lots of planning and preparation, as there are legal, financial and technical considerations to address well ahead of launching this type of raffle. Where the top prize is a property, there may be additional issues to take into considerations depending on your state or country. Likewise, in the USA the person that wins a hosue raffle may be eligible to pay tax on the value of the property.

In Europe, there tend to be more 'skill-based' competitions, as there is often a clearer distinction between pure lotteries, and competitions where the winner is picked based on some element of skill or judgement. This includes Spot the Ball, crossword or Sudoku puzzles. Similarly, we have noticed a rising number of reverse auctions being run online, where properties are offered to the player that submits the lowest unique number in the auction (as opposed to the highest bid as in a normal auction).

We welcome all contributions you may have and invite any charity raffle organizer to list their site for free in our raffles directory.
