House Raffle Winners
Becky and Michael Quinn won the St. Jude Dream Home in Warner Robins after buying a raffle ticket in May. Although they dreamt of winning the property prize, they bought a raffle ticket thinking winning a $1,000 gift card would be a great outcome.
To their great surprise, Michael Quinn's raffle ticket was drawn Sunday as the winner of the $350,000 Dream Home located in The Tiffany subdivision in Warner Robins.
“We weren’t trying to win a house,” Becky Quinn said Sunday afternoon. “They had some other prizes, and I thought we might get one of those.”
Mr Quinn was out of town when his name was pulled and his wife says he couldn't even remember buying the lucky raffle ticket that won them the home.
The couple have been married 28 years and have one daughter aged 23. They moved to the area in 1984 from New Orleans after Michael was offered a job at Robins Air Force Base. He currently works as a computer engineer at another company, while Becky works as a bookkeeper at Sacred Heart Catholic School.
They have lived in their current home on Fieldstone Road since 1986. The St. Jude Dream Home is worth considerably more than than family house and is sure to change the family's life forever.
However, the couple are waiting for information about the taxes they will have to pay on the winnings before deciding whether to move in or to sell it.
The Dream Home is 3,276 sqft with 5 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms.
This year's Warner Robins Dream Home raffle helped raise money for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Prizes including houses and cash gift cards were raffled off in a total of 34 cities, helping sell all 6,000 tickets at $100 each.
Becky is waiting for her husband Michael to return home before touring their new property together: “I want him to be there,” she said. “It’s kind of too much. It’s very overwhelming. ... I can’t wrap my brain around it.”
Congratulations to Becky and Michael Quinn for winning the St. Jude Dream Home 2011!
