San Fransisco Bay Area website cbs5.com reports on the latest house raffle to have closed successfully, Marin Dream House Raffle in San Rafael. Organized to help support non-profit organization Community Action Marin, this year's raffle (their second so far) gave away an impressive $1.2 million home. In the process, the charity raised some $1.3 million to help it meet increased demand for its services.

This year's million dollar property prize was won by a Danville woman whose husband recently lost his job. Susan Wells bought a single $150 ticket as an impulse buy to celebrate the couple's sixteenth wedding anniversary. Little did she know they would become instant millionaires in the process!

They are reportedly considering whether to take possession of the luxury property, or to accept the $1.2 million cash prize instead. In most states across the United States, the winner of a property raffle is required to pay taxes based on the value of their winnings. Given the value of this dream house, they may be required to take on a new mortgage to afford it.
