I hope you don't mind my answering since I'm one of the sponsors of this contest.
We're about 45 mins. from Guadalajara (2nd largest city in Mexico) and we overlook Lake Chapala. This is a great place to live (the climate is so mild) and it's also a great "base" if you want to travel around Mexico. Transportation is plentiful (luxury buses at a very reasonable price) and there are so many historical sites that it's unbelievable. Best of all, of course, is that the cost of living is so much less than most countries and yet you don't give up any of the "necessities" (DSL, cable tv, etc).
The target number of tickets is 10,000 (10,501 for the $25,000 referral prize) but it could go a bit higher. The winner will be determined by the most original entry received and neither of us (hubby and I) have any input in the selection. We're using 3 judges who've never met each other to ensure total impartiality. They won't see the entries until they meet to judge the essays.
