Censorship

While we would like to allow all members to use any language they like, unfortunately due to a small minority of users, our team is required to moderate all posts to ensure they comply with these rules.

Public questioning of moderation decisions

While we try to be as open as possible in the moderation of the forums, we will not enter into public debate over the rights and wrongs of any moderating decisions. Any posts questioning a moderator's decision, or the forum rules, will be deleted.

Swearing

Although each person may have a different view on what constitutes a swear word or inappropriate or offensive language, our moderators are required to apply their judgement to ensure the majority of members are comfortable interacting in these forums. We also apply a swear filter to automatically censor certain words. As a general rule, if you are unsure whether a word or expression could be considered swearing, please try to use an alternative expression to avoid any confusion.

Reported posts

From time to time and for a variety of reasons, members may report forum posts. Just like swearing, our moderators need exercise to their judgement to determine which course of action to take in each case. All moderation decisions are made in consideration of the context in which they are made and based on the parties involved. In some cases, the decision is not clear cut; while we try our best to make the right decisions every time, we accept it is not possible to please everyone.

Libel

It is very common for users to post under a pseudonym in online forums. One implication is that if members post a potentialy libellous statement, it may be possible for the person being libelled to seek redress from this website. As a result, our moderators need to censor posts that they believe are potentially libellous.
